Apparently there are times when I can appear a little daunting. Sometimes even a Reiki wet blanket. Me? A wet blanket? Too serious about Reiki? Really?
Anyway, just to give you an insight into my Reiki life, here are 5 ways I use the Power Symbol to help my life go smoothly:
1. Traffic Jams
Modern life in London (UK) is full of traffic jams – bumper to bumper cars stretching back hours, crabby children, dehydration – I only went out to pick up some veg, for goodness sake! – heat … and right at the front of the jam, some intellectually challenged person who thought it was ok to double park as long as they put on their hazard lights!
So. Sitting in my car in a traffic jam is an ideal time to play with Reiki. It keeps me calm and free of road rage. And at the same time – have you seen the effect of bouncing a Reiki Power symbol up and down on the roof of the car? Before very long, there’s a gap in the traffic on the other side of the road, so that my side can start moving again … and pretty soon after that the guy with the hazard lights turns up, smiles beautifically, starts his car and moves off without a care in the world.
Sheer weight of traffic, on the other hand, requires a bigger solution. A huge power symbol bouncing up and down in the middle of it – a roundabout is a fabulous place to bounce it – as well as the one on the roof of the car. Call me crazy, but those power symbols let loose tiny versions of themselves like little bubbles, bouncing off into the distance doing goodness knows what to loosen off the traffic and get it flowing again. My daughter doesn’t even ask me any more if I’m doing Reiki – when the traffic starts moving, she just looks at me and says “Ha!”.
This works on people traffic jams too – or “queues” as we like to call them in the UK.
I think it might be a bit inappropriate to bounce symbols on top of people’s heads who haven’t asked for Reiki, but, you know, the floor next to them, as long as I’m in a public space, is fair game. I see those little bubbly Power symbols bouncing off the big main one, bouncing around the floor , through all the long line of the queue and within a very short time, by a huge coincidence a couple of extra counters are opened and I’m in front of one of them getting my cheque cashed or stamps bought. And the cashier has a smile on her face for the first time that day.
2. Lift the Atmosphere
Speaking of smiles, bouncing a Reiki Power symbol up and down in any public space is doing everyone a favour. Whenever I go into a shop, a bank or some other place of commerce, I generally do this – particularly in supermarkets. All those anxious people desperately trying to find something nourishing to take home to their families, failing miserably so going for the nearest microwave meal, well, that leaves an energy imprint in the shop. Bouncing a Power symbol in front of me as I wander the shelves not only clears the atmosphere for me, but for everyone else as well. Win-Win.
At home, I lift the atmosphere pretty much daily in my home with Reiki. Drawing a Power symbol in the centre of the room, send Reiki to it and then waft the symbol into each of the walls, the front of the house, back garden, side paths on both sides and even the road and pavement at the front. Oh, yes – the car too.
3. Protect Yourself
In the supermarket, the Reiki Power symbol can also protect you from those trolleys wielded by distracted mothers of three, all of whom want a sweetie or something equally unsuitable, arguing over who is going to push the trolley and who’s going to ride in it.
Before Reiki, I remember a woman so anxious and distracted in the supermarket she rammed her trolley so hard into my foot that a toenail went black and dropped off! Not now.
I surround myself with Reiki Power symbols and find that, strangely, people move around, rather than through, me. Same on the high street on Saturday mornings, or in the shopping centre.
Now, this doesn’t mean that I go out purposefully into less salubrious areas around town after dark, but I do find that surrounding myself with Power symbols on the odd occasions when I feel I need a little lift helps me to feel more confident. When I feel confident, my body language is off putting to predators on the prowl.
4. Protect Your Stuff
I love putting the Reiki Power symbol on my stuff – car, credit cards, keys, handbag, computer, phone – all kinds of stuff.
Why? Well, partly because it’s fun to know all my stuff is full of Reiki. And partly because I tend to forget things. What things? Everything, really. So when my stuff is full of Reiki, I don’t forget it so often.
Coincidentally, when my computer is Reiki-ed, it tends to work really well. Go figure. In fact I know a few IT techs who can get a “bricked” PC working again by giving it a little Reiki love.
Other Reiki people I know have got their cars going when the battery has died. I’m not really a car person, so I tend to call someone to charge the battery in those circumstances. Will let you know how it turns out if I’m ever so stuck I need to Reiki the engine.
I do Reiki the petrol, though – weirdly it seems to make the petrol last longer. Or perhaps that’s just me.
Sometimes, I like to draw a huge Reiki Power symbol around myself, with the spiral crossing all the chakras, and then just sit with it and meditate. It makes me feel happy.
